The World is already a better place because of her...

My daughter amazes me everyday, and there are times where I have to just take a step back and remind myself that she is only 9 1/2 yrs old. Ever since I gave birth to her brother in May of 2007, Ally has been 100% supportive with anything and everything we, as a family, have had to go through with him. She is ALWAYS hands-on with her brother, and gets so excited to participate in his therapies when she can (she's at school during most of them). She is so proud of her brother and all his accomplishments and is already so protective over him. It's no wonder he loves her more than the moon and the stars...

A little over a year ago, Ally came to us and told us that when she grows up she wants to be a "Special Need" Education teacher...I almost broke down into tears....Since then, she has learned things from Ethan's therapists, always helping them, and is always reading books and researching all different types of Special Needs cases.

Today, over dinner, Ally told her Daddy and I that she made a new friend today. Her name is Jessica, she is 6 years old and she is in the 2nd grade. She loves to run and play on the playground and play "pretend"...Jessica has Down Syndrome. Ally noticed Jessica today when Jessica's class was out the same time Ally's class was for lunch. Ally said they played all day, and she helped her up and down the playground. Ally even mentioned that Jessica's teacher kept looking at Ally, smiling....That made her happy.

When you have a child w/ special needs, things are so unknown, and sort of scary. Though there are hardships and trying times that come with that, there are also moments like this where you see additional blessings your children bring you.

I am BEYOND proud of my baby girl....My heart feels like exploding right now as I try to put into words how incredible she is....

I've said it before, and I'll say it over, and OVER again.... I am so grateful for life's unexpected gifts, because they turn out to be God's greatest blessings!

Signed,

One Proud Momma
