"Biology is the least of what makes someone a mother."

Yesterday, Ally and I, celebrated our 1 year "Adoption Anniversary." I can't believe it's been 1 whole year since one of the greatest days of our lives. I let Ally stay home from school and I took the day off of work. As soon as the Hubs got off of work, the festivities began. Ally said she wanted to go to Painted Earth, somewhere we always talked about going but had yet to get the chance to. Ally picked out a butterfly, and I, OF COURSE, picked out a cupcake...  ;)

After painting, it was off to dinner at Chilis. Ally and I exchanged gifts...She ordered me a BEAUTIFUL heart and "mom poem." Bless her little heart, she ordered it 3 weeks early and was SO WORRIED it wouldn't get here in time.. (lol).
"Mom
Your arms are always welcoming
You show how much you care,
Your heart is filled with endless love
That we are all blessed to share"

It was my turn to give Ally her gift. After much thought I decided to get Ally an engraved necklace (no pic, sorry). It was a silver chain with a silver heart pendant that was engraved with "My Greatest Gift" on one side, and "2.1.10" (the date of the adoption) on the other side. I also got Ally a Jewelry box (pic above) to keep the necklace in. On the outside it is engraved with "Ally Elizabeth-- My Brown Eyed Girl," after the song I used to play for her when she was a little girl.

And what is any anniversary without a YUMMY dessert! :)

All in all, we had a WONDERFUL day, and I know neither of us will forget this day. I cannot even begin to put into words how much this beautiful human being means to me. She was the first one to show me what selfless, pure love really was. The love of a child is something never to be taken lightly, and I am so blessed and thankful that God chose her for me and me for her.

XOXO,
-Me
